Max and his Teddy

Max

The dog & Entertainment Manager

I’m Max, the dog. Basically, this is my hostel and I would love to have you join my pack and me. They employed me as the Entertainment Manager. They tell me I am a real gem, perhaps that is because I do so much more around here.  I help with gardening, play with our guests and my staff, I try my best to look after the rubbish and have indicated to them that I would like more responsibilities in that area, but they just don’t let me near the rubbish or any food… I am always up for a cuddle, love socialising, the gasman and tennis balls. But, no worries, I have plenty of time to play with you too.  There is always more love to give, I am here, I am waiting for you, so when are you coming to stay with us?

Veronique

Veronique

Hi there! I’m Veronique. I’m originally from Canada, but I’m one of those who fell in love with New Zealand and never left! I arrived in Christchurch and at The Old Countryhouse in January 2015 and immediately felt at home here. I do hope that you feel the same way and will always do my best to make sure you enjoy your time at my favorite hostel in New Zealand!

If you have any questions about must dos and must sees in Christchurch and in New Zealand, or if you just want to have a chat, I’m here for you! My favorite part of the job here is definitely helping you guys make the best out of your trip, and tell you about the wonderful things about the Quake City that you won’t find in your guidebook. Looking forward to seeing you here!

Shannon

Shannon

Kiaora, I am Shannon a native New Zealander who has recently ditched the grass skirt out of consideration for my role of a Duty manager at The Old Countryhouse. I am passionate about New Zealand, especially my home town Christchurch. The amazing team here will make you feel like whanau (family). All of us have travelled far and wide, so we want to give you advise to make your New Zealand experience your best adventure yet! Come and test us.
NB: I charge extra for Haka performances (maori war dance), maori pronuciation lessons and pukana competitions (angry Maori frown that is used at end of haka’s).

Lucka

Lucka

Hi there. My name is Lucka. I come from Slovenia but have choosen New Zealand to be my new home.
I’m one of those people who return, once they find a great place to be. I had been part of the team at the end of year 2012 for three months and have returned in November 2014 to stay for longer.  To work in the Old Countryhouse feels great, because we always try our best to make travellers feel like at home and that wouldn’t be possible without the awesome team that I am working with. I’m a positive and smiley person, who will always try to help people as best as can. In my free time I like to take a walk to the beautiful Botanical gardens or find a good place with great coffee. I wish for all to enjoy your time in New Zealand and hopefully we see ya at The Old Countryhouse.
