Reception & Check In Hours:

Reception is open from 10am to 3pm and check-ins are possible at any time during those hours. Guests may check-in any time during reception hours. However, due to our daily cleaning schedule you can only move into your room after 1pm. We do have a luggage storage room where you can ‘park’ your baggage in the meantime.

Arriving outside Reception Hours:

We are pleased we can arrange a late check in for guests arriving outside reception hours. With your booking you agree for us to take full payment for your booking (plus 3% minimum $3 credit card processing fee) at the time of booking so we can send you a confirmation of your booking with our Late Arrival Instructions. We understand that you may change your plans ‘last minute’ to fully enjoy your holiday. If you have any changes to your booking, or will be arriving later than originally planned, please contact us prior to your arrival so that we can email you our late arrival instructions.

Payments & Fees:

Payments are processed according to your booking terms:

Non-Refundable bookings are charged at the time the booking is received.  Please be sure to have sufficient funds available on your card.

Bookings with arrival times outside reception hours are charged when we are notified of your arrival time with your booking (please see above information about late arrivals).

Cleaning your dishes is not included in your nightly price.

Damages Policy: Any damage to hostel property will be charged to the credit card on file for the cost of recovery, replacement and/or repair plus an administration fee of a minimum of $25.

Cancellations & ‘No Shows’:

All cancellations and changes to a booking must be received by us by email before 7pm, at least 48 hours (2 full days’ notice – local NZ time) prior to your day of arrival. We will confirm the receipt of your cancellation or change of booking by return email (during our reception hours). No Shows, cancellations or changes to the booking received with less than 2 full days’ notice will be charged to your credit card with the full amount for the booking.

Prices & Deals:

Please follow the prices link or click on the ‘Book Now’ button to check for up to date availabilities and prices. Please note, that all deals are non-transferable and non-refundable.
All our prices are cash prices. However, you may choose to pay by credit card or eftpos subject to a small bank fee.

Christmas and New Year Bookings:

We have a minimum stay period over Christmas and your booking MUST include the three nights of 24, 25 and 26 December.

New Year:

We have a minimum stay period over New Year and your booking MUST include the three nights of 30 and 31 December and 1 January.

Extended Cancellation Policy for Bookings between 24 December and 3 January:

Any cancellations must be received by email ONE WEEK PRIOR TO your arrival. Cancellations within one week and failure to arrive will be charged at 100% of your booking.

BBH Cards:

Discounts are available for BBH Club Card Holders for walk-in and phone bookings ONLY and with presentation of a valid BBH Club Card upon arrival. You can purchase this card from us on arrival.

Children Policy:

Our hostel is not suitable for children under the age of 14. Bookings with children above the age of 14 must be in private rooms.

Group Bookings:

For Group Bookings with 6 guests or more, please ONLY use the Group Booking Page and we will send you a quote setting out our price and booking terms applicable for group bookings.  However, if you choose to make a group booking online, we may not be able to accommodate your group in the same room or even the same building and the 10% non-refundable deposit paid online might be lost if booking through this website (even if the ‘Book Now’ button accepts your booking).

No alcohol is to be brought within the premises.

Smoking in any of the buildings on site is strictly prohibited and will incur a $200.00 fine and possible immediate eviction. Any tampering with fire equipment or any action that results in the fire service attending eg tampering with a smoke detector, smoking in rooms, will incur a $1500.00 fine and immediate eviction. In either scenario, no refund will be issued.

If we notice the number of customers in a room exceeds the number of guests paid for, payment will be required for the extra people present in the room and may lead to issuing trespass notice for everyone involved in the offence and no refund will be issued.

Any damages to the room will be charged to the credit card that is held on file.

Smoking, soiling or otherwise damaging your room or any other part of The Old Countryhouse will result in your credit card being charged for excessive cleaning and/or repair of the damages, plus a minimum admin fee of $50.
