How to get to The Old Countryhouse
Walking
Depending on how fast you walk, it takes 15 – 20 minutes to get here from Cathedral Square along Gloucester Street.
By car

By bus
Yellow Line Bus: To and from the Central Bus Station, where all public buses leave from. Ask the driver to let you off at Stanmore Road. The Yellow Line Bus and the Bus No. 60 stop opposite the hostel. Price per ticket is currently $3.50. Buses 80 and the Orange Line (to the Rugby Stadium) stop about 5 mins walk away.
From the airport
By Shuttle
Take the shuttle bus from outside the terminal. They will drop you off at the hostel entrance and the journey takes approx. 30 minutes. By Public Bus
Alternatively you can take the Purple Line Bus (Direction Central Station) from outside the International Antarctic Centre, which is just 5 minutes from the airport (ask at the Airport Information where to find the Antarctic Centre). Change buses (on the same ticket) to the Yellow Line (Direction Mt. Pleasant) and ask the bus driver to let you off at Stanmore Road. The fare is currently $3.50. The bus stops opposite the hostel and you should allow about 75-90 minutes for the journey. You can download the timetables here: Yellow Line Bus. There is also an Airport Bus to and from the airport from the Central Station for $8.

Book your rental car through us prior to your arrival in New Zealand and if you arrive between 8am-5pm seven days a week you will get FREE transport from the airport to the rental car depot where you can collect your car. From the Train Station
By Shuttle
Take the shuttle bus from outside the station. They operate every day, seven days a week. It will drop you off at the hostel entrance. Prices are currently $20 per passenger.

By Taxi
A taxi fare to the hostel is approx. $35.
By Public Bus:
There is no public bus from the train station to the city, and the Train Station is well outside the city centre.
Hitchhiking
To/From the North:
You will come into the city along the Main North Road and can take Blue Line (Direction Central Station) to the Central Bus Station then change to the Yellow Line (Direction Mt. Pleasant). The fare is currently $3.50 and you can download timetables by clicking on the links.
To/From the South
You will come into the city along the Main North Road and can take Yellow Line Bus (Direction Mt. Pleasant). The fare is currently $3.50 and you can download timetables by clicking on the links.
