Budget Rooms Available at The Old Countryhouse hostel, Christchurch

Enjoy the comforts of home at The Old Countryhouse traveller's hostel in Christchurch, just 1500m from Cathedral Square in the central city.  Our authentic colonial villas have spacious three metre high ceilings, decorative architraves, leadlight windows and polished wooden floors.

The bedrooms are warm, spacious and spotlessly clean with hotel standard beds. If privacy is important, stay in your own room with ensuite bathroom. We also have small dormitories available.

We haven't increased our prices for the Rugby World Cup!

 

Reception & Check In Hours: at The Old Countryhouse Backpackers in Christchurch

Our reception is open from 9am to 8pm and check-ins are possible at any time during those hours.  We close between 1pm and 3pm for our lunch break.  Guests may check-in any time during reception hours.  However, due to our daily cleaning schedule you can only move into your room after 3pm.  We do have a luggage storage room where you can 'park' your baggage in the meantime.

Arriving outside Reception Hours:  We are pleased we can arrange a late check in for guests arriving at night time.  However, in consideration to our other guests we can only offer this service to guests with fully pre-paid bookings for a private room.  With your booking you agree for us to take full payment for your booking (plus $3 creditcard processing fee) at the time of booking so we can send you a confirmation of your booking with our Late Arrival Instructions. For our guests with bookings in a dorm room we suggest to book a private room for your first night and then move to a dorm room on the next morning.  This is to ensure all guests are getting a restful sleep.

We understand that you may change your plans 'last minute' to fully enjoy your holiday.  If you have any changes to your booking, or will be arriving later than originally planed, please contact us prior to your arrival so that we can send you our late arrival instructions.   However our Late Arrival Policy only applies for bookings into private rooms.

 

Cancellations & 'No Shows':  at The Old Countryhouse Backpackers Hostel

All cancellations or changes to the booking must be received by us at least 48 hours prior to the start of your day of arrival.   We will confirm the receipt of your cancellation or change of booking by return email (during our reception hours).  But, if we do not hear from you and you do not arrive, then we will charge your credit card with the full amount for your booking.

CHRISTMAS BOOKINGS:
We have a minimum stay period over Christmas and your booking MUST include the three nights of 24, 25 and 26 December otherwise your booking is unable to be accepted. 

NEW YEAR:
We have a minimum stay period over New Year and your booking MUST include the three nights of 30 and 31 December and 1 January otherwise your booking will not be accepted.
 
EXTENDED CANCELLATION POLICY for Christmas & New Year Bookings:
Any cancellations must be received by email ONE WEEK PRIOR TO your arrival. Cancellations within one week and failure to arrive will be charged at 100% of your booking. However we will endeavour to re-let your room and if successful there will only be a small charge.
